I have some ground sausage that I want to cook in the microwave. Does anyone here have any experience with or suggestions about what the best way, or any way, I could do it?
TIA.

(32,641 posts)I wouldn't mess around with it in a microwave. If you do, make sure it is well done.

(16,993 posts)correct temperature, 145 degrees. How long that takes depends on the wattage of your microwave. Time scroll down to see the time chart.

(2,654 posts)I enjoy your posts, and I am sure that your cooking is just as pleasing. When I microwave meats, I use a glass lid to prevent grease spatter. The color of cooked pork or sausage can be misleading. We all want those meats to be free of a pink tinge. However, microwaving them can result in fully cooked meat having such a color. Let us know how your dish turns out.

if fat content is high you may want to pour it off midway

(21,996 posts)It has to be at least 145º F to kill off any germs or parasites. It doesn't matter how the meat gets to that temperature.
With pork and chicken, I always err on the side of a little hotter. I don't want to get sick!
Good luck and I hope your dish turns out well.

(4,737 posts)stirring and breaking it up after every round. Leave the juices in until it's done, they'll aid the cooking.
It's not going to come out browned and crisp (unless you have one of those charming vintage microwave browning plates) like in a pan but it'll be serviceable.
