I have a craving for vegetable soup, the winter kind, so I when out for groceries this a.m., I picked up the few I would need. It will be mushroom-tomato based and have carrots, onion, potatoes, mushrooms, barley, and a few charred Brussels sprouts. And let's not forget my favorite vegetable: the turnip!
Found an absolutely stunning head of red leaf lettuce and paid too much for it, but I just had to have it. It's not every day you run across a head of lettuce like that. Tossed green salad, therefore. I might put some of my wasabi mustard microgreens on top. Here's a pic of them, planted back on 3/10.
Cornbread with tiny bits of cheddar and green chile peppers.
Dessert: banana milkshake.

(17,526 posts)I am cooking a "kitchen sink" beef stew. Cubed beef, onions, potatoes, bell pepper, pasta sauce, canned corn and my secret herbs and spices. It is simmering in a frying pan right now, and I am starving, so it will be good!
When Covid raised its head a couple of years ago, I stacked the pantry deep so as to avoid shopping trips. We have been drawing it down and now it looks bare to me so if I miss grocery shopping I have to get a little creative. If anyone wants to drop by for a bowl, feel free. If not and you are hungry I can email you a bowl.

(32,961 posts)I make my taco mix from scratch, instead of picking up the tube of tomato paste, I picked up the similar colored tube of harissa paste instead. It works well because I like spicy tacos.

Honestly it works very well. The avocado mashed in the sour cream was a cooling contrast.
I put the web addy there so you can save the image for shopping

so I've got some fancy mustard that will turn a couple of microwaved corn dogs into a gourmet meal.

FLFC is snoozing. He had some deli turkey and beef earlier. I have beef, turkey, and corned beef if he has a hungry later. I bought a can of plain pumpkin I'd like to see if he will eat to aid his digestion. I'll likely need to prepare it some. Perhaps warm with some butter. He'll eat sweet potato that way sometimes.
