Not very hungry tonight.

Today I took the whole can of coffee and tossed it in the evergreens. That was the worst coffee ever. It had a slight odor of solvent, tasted like mud, had no caffeine to it, and was not black but red-black. I think it was 4/5 chemically decaffeinated beans - shell and all - and 1/5 regular coffee beans. 8 times worse than my normal brand Maxwell House, which is an acquired taste all by itself.

got a nice fresh cabbage today, and used the Ninja to shred it. I use Kroger creamy Italian dressing to flavor it. It is no carb, and very zesty.

I didn't make any go withs, so I'll enjoy your victuals vicariously

with home fries, steamed green beans and sliced tomato.

For us: I have some cabbage, potatoes and carrots leftover from our boiled dinner over the weekend. I'll heat those up and cook a couple of pork chops to go with them.

With Sis going back to work, I really need to be over with Dad at dinner time, even if it's just to help him put a frozen pizza in the oven. At nearly 91, he is losing his memory and getting increasingly confused. When I served him curry and rice last week, he went to fill his plate and said, "I know I'm going to do this wrong." "No wrong way to fill your plate, Dad."

So when I go there, it's not just to feed him, it's to check up on him. And while there are days when I feel like I really don't want to go, there are also days where I hear a story from him that I had never heard before.

(He told me a sweet one about my mom last week. That was such a gift.)

The best news is that he is not at all particular about food. He likes almost everything (not a fan of hot dogs). And over the weekend, I went with Sis when she did their shopping, so I'm in on the menu planning and shopping.

I'm happy to help. Even though there are days when I don't want to go over there, I realize that there are not many years left to enjoy my dad, and I'm lucky to have the opportunity to spend the time with him.

Either stir-fried chicken and broccoli with the leftover lemon chicken from Sunday, or leftover root vegetable pie leftovers from yesterday. Whichever, the other will be lunch tomorrow.
