My grandson mentioned at Christmas that he liked orange scones. All of the adults and some of the kids in his world made lots of cookies and other treats. I got the ingredients, but didn't make them. We're going to hang out this weekend, so I'm going to make them. I got a recipe from Tea Time, a site my best friend recommended. I've never made scones before, wish me luck!

I know how much he likes scones, so to surprise him when he comes here on Sunday,I made some orange cranberry scones yesterday. First time for me, too. I ate one 🙂 and froze the other seven. Although when I thaw them out on Sunday I plan to glaze them with an orange juice-confectioners sugar glaze.
The main thing about scones (from what I have read) is to keep the butter cold. Good luck with your orange scones! Im sure your grandson will like them!

(16,957 posts)I've only eaten one scone ever. I bought some of Panera's orange scones for my friend, so I was vaguely familiar with them. The recipe I used was ok. It called for 1/2 cup of heavy cream, and I ended up using probably a cup. I ate one of these scones. They are soft, moist, nice texture overall. I added a glaze with zest, juice and a little orange extract. My grandson gave them 2 thumbs up.
