Cold brew coffee is great. Saves energy, mild, less acidic, and I find the caffeine jolt milder but more enduring, more intellectual.

Because my technology is nonexistent ... i just use what's around.

I take a glass cooking pot and two cups of filtered water. I throw in about a tablespoon of coffee. I let it sit. In the morning I pour it through a filter wedged into a tea strainer. This is my deluxe model. Sometimes I will heat the water the night before just until it starts to get warm, then turn it off and forget about it til morning.

I have a lower acid coffee brand from the now-closed Lucky's Market. I also have Maxwell House Med. Roast. I don't fuss with coffee. The only thing that was horrible was the other old major brand I reported last week. I tossed the whole can. Worst coffee ever.

I peeled and boiled some potatoes. Let me say that I would not normally do this. Al doesn't like hash, so he'll get home fries. Normally I would make home fries like I make hash, cut up the potatoes and put them in a low pan for them to cook and brown. Al likes his home fries deep fried (like French fries) and insists that the proper way to do this is to boil the potatoes first..

Anyway, the potatoes are cooked, and for my hash I just need to cut them up smaller and get them into the skillet with some onions, peppers and sausage. I have taken the skillet out, but to be honest I could not care less about the hash and just wish someone would hit me over the head with the skillet and put me out of my misery.

This flu has officially knocked me on my butt. For all the complaining I've done in the last few days, today I feel even worse.

I imagine at some point I will get out of my chair and finish the hash. I'll have it with an egg on top and a side of salsa.

Al's on his own.

(The coffee is tasting pretty good though.)

Most of us know the misery of one of those flus.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm making cornbread this morning, so I may have a slice of that when it's done.

Other than that, vanilla nut chicory tea that tastes like coffee.
