Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumit's cool enough to bake a loaf of bread
i live in northern colorado and we are coming out of the worst heat wave i ever remember. we had a raging fire burning west of us for three weeks, weeks of mid 90s-100+ degree weather. chocolate melted in the cupboard.
so i didn't cook much last month, ate a lot of cereal, sandwiches, pasta salad and take out.
but the weather finally broke. it got hot yesterday and today, but we had storms roll in to cool us down. upper 70s this weekend, 65 right now, so i'm celebrating. there's a batch of peppers roasting right now, the bread will follow and almonds will bring up the rear. tomorrow i'll make a batch of the naughty bars guardian posted and a bacon asparagus salad for a party tomorrow and a steak for sandwiches sunday.
it has been too damn hot to cook and it's made me antsy. cooking is what soothes me, it's my zen time and it's been hard.
i figured you guys would understand my excitement

(6,581 posts)They say it's coming. The heat is pretty unreal here, three days this week around 100. Right now, it's 80 and the dewpoint is 74. Like a sauna outside.
