What's for Dinner, Fri., Aug. 19, 2022

Last edited Fri Aug 19, 2022, 09:31 PM - Edit history (1)

Salad with turkey breast, avocado, and crispy turkey bacon.

Lots of fresh garden vegetables in the salad, like cherry tomatoes, cucumber, onion, and green pepper.

Poppyseed dressing. A few chow mein noodles on top.

Pear milkshake and half a bears claw for dessert.

Shrimp cocktail. Smoked salmon, asparagus and capers on toasted baguette slices smeared with roasted red pepper cream cheese. Chilled orange wine (not made from oranges...the skins are left in the wine as it ferments to get the color)...its a dry white that drinks like a red.

I'm stalking this thread for more hot weather meals...My creativity is waning at the moment. It's just too hot.

ETA photo because it turned out to be a pretty meal.

I like the red pepper cream cheese idea and it's also nice to be able to see the orange wine. Beautiful dining spot!

It’s a pre made Philadelphia whipped cream cheese product. It was really good imho. One less step in the summer.

First we will be eating at a local fine restaurant for a delicious sit down dinner. Thinking steak for myself, not sure what my better half will order. Then off to our old restored movie theater to catch the late showing of Where the Crawdads Sing.

Caught last week. Gifted to me. So excited!

Making Halibut Olympia. A cream sauce from mayo and sour cream with a bread crumb crust. I used panko and cracker crumbs.

Risotto.

I see halibut Olympia recipes when I Google it…is your recipe similar to what I see online? My guys went to AK in June and I have a freezer full of halibut and am always looking for a new way to make it.
