Every few months I buy a 2-pack of chickens at CostCo, since their chickens are considerably cheaper than any other place around here. I'd cut them up, and freeze the breasts, legs, thighs, wings - and livers - and use the remaining parts for stock. Lately, though, the chickens don't have the necks/hearts/gizzard/livers packed with them. Is this a nation-wide trend, or just here in California? And how am I going to make my cheap chicken liver pate if chickens don't have livers anymore?

(9,995 posts)from pasture raised chickens, but you can get them at Kroger from time to time, where they're still pretty cheap.

(43,049 posts)toss the gizzards and cut up the white meat, so why give it to them for free when you can sell the livers seperately for a buck a pound.
