What's for Dinner, Tues., Sept. 27, 2022

Butternut squash soup with ravioli.

I'm topping the soup with fried sage leaves.

Tossed green salad with shrimp, hardboiled egg, and avocado. Topping this with turkey bacon.

Pineapple kombucha.

How is it on fried tofu? My local Thai restaurant does a great deep-fried tofu with a thin dipping sauce, and I hate deep-frying.

so I usually shallow fry everything in my cast iron skillet. Less oil used and needing to be disposed of.

Used what I had on hand, and put it in the oven to melt the cheese. Turned out pretty good

Had some vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Since I have a day off. They've been in the oven for 4 hours already and I hope to have enough to freeze or can. Hot dogs to go with.

Haven't had it since I was a kid. I've looked for recipes online, but none of them are right, so I'm just going to wing it. I have stew beef and some pork to cut into cubes (she also used veal back then, but too expensive now and none of the three nearby groceries sell it), and the in-store butcher gave me the skewers. I know she first dredged and fried them and then stuck the skillet in the oven for a while.

Going to have with mashed potatoes with garlic, sour cream and grated parm, along with Brussels sprouts for a veg.

As usual, husband is drinking coffee and water, me just water.

cooked in an ancho/squash mole, zucchini fritters, and tortillas. Come to think of it, a good American dinner!
