With an overnight rub of garlic, red pepper flakes, chili powder, salt, and a little bit of apple cider vinegar then baked in a slow oven (225 F) all afternoon. Some off the shelf tomato barbecue sauce plus some red pepper flakes thinned with cider was brushed on several times during the last couple of hours.

Some stewed apples with a tiny bit of sugar and butter and lots of cinnamon as the side.

I was going to prepare more sides but a nap sidetracked me.

It is Saturday so I'm dining alone unless my neighbor wants to share.

First Dungeness crab of the season, on a bed of romaine lettuce with hard-boiled eggs, the one tomato from my garden (it was a very bad year) and homemade sauce, with fresh sourdough bread and a crisp California white wine. It's the meal I look forward to every summer!

And if there's any leftover crab meat, it will go into a bisque made from the crab shells.
