What's for Dinner, Tues., Nov. 15, 2022

Posting early due to working late.

Mushroom tortellini soup. I made mushroom soup using the new biome broth I did in the slow cooker. I posted some pics, yesterday I think. Had to defrost a bag already! I made it a creamy soup by adding mascarpone. Cooked cheese ravioli in the broth before I added the mascarpone. Also added ground chicken sausage, spicy.

On top I am putting sage, chives, and rosemary.

Open-face turkey sandwich with melted gruyere on top.

Salad from yesterday--still crispy and very good. Sesame-ginger vinaigrette.

Peach kombucha.

It's overcast, rainy, and cold here, so a good night for soup.

The last of the ham chunks and stock from the freezer with the usual veggies.

This is the stock I labeled very strong.

It is a cold and rainy day that started with a little sleet, perfect for this concoction.

on wheat buns, leftover garlic potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

Have been cooking boneless pork ribs in the slow cooker to shred with BBQ sauce. I'm actually hungry and wish were already done.

Have dutch chocolate ice cream but no cones, but I ate a small bowl last night when it was sleeting outside and freezing cold. Not sure I even tasted it, I was so cold.

Brought tinned haggis back from Scotland.
Boiling Yukon gold potatoes and turnips to mash.
Whiskey sauce. Fresh parsley since I brought in the herb pot in time.

A recipe from my America's Test Kitchen cookbook.

Though, I confess: I didn't make the cornbread topping from their recipe. I used a package mix. It's a very tasty recipe. I'm glad I tried it. Now I know I can make it for my dad.

oh yeah. Dad had spaghetti with homemade sauce and sweet Italian sausage.

It's one of my late nights. 50:50 leftover white and brown rice, lots of veg and an egg. Got it on the tv tables in 20 minutes and still missed half of Finding Your Roots.

DH always thinks of it as delicious junk food - he doesn't need to know it's actually pretty healthy. Also fast and cheap.
