It is raw, windy, and cold here, so an appetizer of soup is in order. Carrot-kohlrabi-Savoy cabbage creamed soup.
I'm serving this with olive hummus on wheat crackers and pretzel thins.
Main dish is flounder in orange sauce. I'm making the orange sauce with fresh oranges. Herbs sprinkled over the top; probably parsley.
Superberry kombucha.
Dessert: Apple slices and goat's milk Brie.
Later on tonight, probably during 11th Hour, a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows.

(21,998 posts)Were in Nags Head, NC and were meeting a colleague of the First Mates for burgers at a local joint. Heres how they describe themselves:
Ill probably have their Black and Blue burger with blue cheese, carmalized onions, lettuce, tomato and fries but they also serve crab cakes so Im still not sure
The friend was the Stage Manager for a summer tourist production in Mateo called The Lost Colony about the first intended-to-last English colony in the new world (1584). The colonists disappeared, hence the musical. It has a cast of 100 with songs, dances, dialog and multi-media elements. Its quite extravagant!

(21,998 posts)Since we had anchored there before we knew the fish factory was there.
Theres also a small airport there and when the planes took off at 6:00 am we were a bit startled!
Still, it was a pretty and safe anchorage.

(21,998 posts)The over-fishing of the menhaden species is a proper concern and the Bay fisherman have a legitimate issue with the open ocean rules.
We were only amused because we had unknowingly been right next to the factory and their fishing ships. It took about 5-6 miles to shake the smell of stinky fish!

(22,767 posts)with tots and peas. Had baked whole sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with it last night.
Sorry weather's being ugly up your way. Was in the 20s here in the southern plains last night and most of the morning. I was so cold when I got out from under the blankets, I had to put on two layers of clothes. Not going to be better tonight or tomorrow, either. I just really can't take winter anymore.
Making more dark chocolate edibles tonight. This time blueberry flavored. Last week was raspberry.

Cold day calls for soup.
Cold day doesn't prevent us from eating strawberry ice cream for dessert.

(68,469 posts)salt, pepper, and garlic. I made gravy with almond flour and cream (lower carb than milk)...turned out great. I had asparagus on the side. We are doing low carb to help with inflammation and to lose weight...mostly the pain thing. I have some arthritis in my left knee and a shoulder injury...can only take Tylenol because I am on blood thinners for the A-Fib gifted to me from Covid and hubs has progressive poly-neuropathy...causes pain in the legs and hands...the diet has worked pretty well. He has pain meds as well. And we have a medical card for marijuana.

(410 posts)Chorizo sausage from the freezer, refried beans, fried onion, cheddar and salsa verde (tomatillo chili) from the pantry.
I'm considering mixing the rest of the salsa jar with a jar of potato leek soup to make a Mexican potato soup in a couple days. It sounds edible, should work. Grilled cheese sandwiches should use up the rest of the cheddar.
Thanksgiving pay period, I plan at least a week of meals straight out of the pantry to save the budget for the big blowout. However, DH couldn't care less about most of the holiday meal as long as there's a big vat of stuffing. And gravy. The turkey is almost an afterthought, just the container the stuffing came in.
