Just pulled a dutch apple pie outta the oven. Mrs. Smith's. The local grocery has them $3.99 during the holidays and it's a solid brand with a nice flaky crust, even on the bottom.

(130,773 posts)Grocery has them fairly often, but not very good. I rarely buy a whole pie, as it's just me, but may look for one tomorrow.

(22,767 posts)and as good as they are, why not?
I am going to make a pie sometime soon. I love mincemeat (not the traditional style) and they want $8 for them, even now which is the only time you see them available. I have granny smith apples and lots of raisins, just need a few other items and good to go.

I've made it several times, it's pretty easy and good. I use different cheeses and seasonings sometimes. Today I'm adding a little liquid smoke and using gruyere & colby jack along with the cheddar.
I also like to add some minced garlic with the beef & onion, and use habanero jack cheese and a mexican blend instead of the cheddar. I add a drained can of rotel when I make it that way.

(1,704 posts)I'd never cooked spaghetti squash before and was surprised at how easy it was to fix and how good it was.

(68,504 posts)I used Paprika, thyme, and salt/pepper to season it. I am drinking water tonight. I have low carb bars, fruit or maybe jello for dessert.
