Roast chicken with sage and thyme. Stuffing and gravy.
Salad, tossed green with tomatoes, pepper, red onion, and cucumber.
Dessert: should I open this Junior's cheesecake I received as a gift?
I need to give 95% of it away.
I have a big pot of hibiscus tea to get me through the cold evening, not to mention one heckuva furnace that kicks out the heat when needed. Radiator heat: I love it.

(16,963 posts)I bought a deli chicken 2 days ago. Yesterday, I had a small dinner with family and friends. I took leftovers from dinner and the rest of the chicken and made a pot of soup. Kind of recharging my batteries before we drive for the hoop tomorrow night
It is -1 F, here, wind chill makes it feel like -16 F. I just finished giving cookie gifts
Enjoy your tea and heat!

(35,678 posts)Is that where the greenhouse is? If so, did a door blow open and did you have to go out in this horrendous cold and shut it?

(22,037 posts)Incredibly, her parsley, rosemary and thyme were still fresh when we got home so she brought them indoors before the cold wave hit. It was -1 degrees this morning so she was probably just in thyme, (ha, ha).

(35,678 posts)And six dill inside. The good news is maybe they can go back because the weather is going to be great after this weekend.
There is nothing and I mean nothing like fresh herbs for those interested in culinary pursuits, so happy to hear you still have herbs with which to cook.
My greenhouse door blew open but I caught it before it got too cold in there.

(35,678 posts)It's a brand new cheesecake that was shipped to me. It has been sitting in its original box, sealed, in my refrig for a week! I have to find people to give it away to because I'm supposed to be watching my glycemic levels, according to my doc.
If I leave it unopened, I can maybe take it to the food bank?

Let them have it, surely there is someone who can take it off your hands.

(36,281 posts)Kind of like twice cooked pork but only cooked once, lol. Served with jasmine rice and a chef salad. I baked almond poppy seed bread for dessert, with tea or chai for me. Ms K usually avoids caffeine after mid-afternoon. She'll probably have some herbal tea.

(22,256 posts)Also I never made the cornbread because I was all wrapped up in baking a bourbon cake and as I was putting it in the oven, I realized I would not be able to bake the cornbread.
So tonight we had the cornbread. It was really good; nice and crunchy on the bottom, just like my mom used to make.
