(106,886 posts)Landlord had my house re-carpeted on Thursday. Only 2 rooms and a walk in closet; I live in a small 100 year old bungalow. Still a big job, though. And it was really needed.
5 friends, neighbors and family helped move everything out to the front yard while the carpet guys did the job. Then helped move it all back in. Including a 20 gallon aquarium...which got emptied, cleaned and re-filled (fish are fine).
Was interesting to see all my furniture on the front court yard. Crossed my mind that I'd be OK setting up house on the lawn. Sleep out there at times, as it is...LOL.
I had the opportunity to whittle stuff down to what I actually use, recycle some stuff, give some things away.
It's like I just moved in. So...I'm thinking a middle eastern take-out. Lots of small dishes and baklava to finish.

(146,218 posts)Enjoy your dinner and your baclava (yum!).
And the baklava is homemade down the street at a Lebanese deli... Fresh, sweet, comes with a demitasse of kicker coffee while you wait for your order. I'm calling ahead, taking a walk and bringing the meal home for an Olympic evening.

(106,886 posts)Love volleyball among some other of the summer games.
Just a couple, though, as my BFF invited me over later. Spouse out of town on business.
At 9 we're going to drink wine and have appetizers--chicken roll-ups and coconut shrimp. I'm taking an Asian eggplant dish I made. And watch that hilarious show I may have mentioned on this thread: Bad Dog. It's on at 9 est on Animal Planet.
Pinto, congratulations! That sounds lovely--new carpet, clear out clutter, and middle eastern food.

(32,086 posts)It was supposed to be last night's dinner, but it rained--for about 2 minutes. But, it kept on lightening, so I wasn't about to go outside. Going to have it with a baked potato and grilled eggplant.

(106,886 posts)(aside) The avo crop is incredible this year. At supermarkets, farmers' markets and neighbor's trees. They cycle, iirc. Good yield years, poor years.

(10,170 posts)I get to make pasta. ( My family avoids it ) Nice to have someone who wanted it.
I found these amazing green beans at the farmer's market this morning that were a couple of feet long. A few were also purple. Very pretty. I blanched them and then did a vegetable medley with pumpkin seeds. Fresh pasta with a champagne sauce.
Heated up a couple of fake chickn patties for extra protein. Tasty!
