(22,160 posts)The bedroom floor is 2/3 complete . My husband will have to drive to the nearest Home Depot (40 miles away) for more nails for the nail gun. Hopefully, all the wood is layed by Saturday and we can polyurethane next week .

(22,160 posts)The previous owner built this house and did a really nice job, but flooring wasn't his strong suit. So we are doing it in red oak and yes, I will be even more excited when we are finished.

(21 posts)I think the real tragedy is the groupthink ASSumptions being made but I am funny that way...

(175,749 posts)I was very happy when I had my floors redone. The carpeting was a blah beige that showed every foot track. Unfortunately, I am not handy so had to pay to have it done, but it was worthwhile.

(22,160 posts)and we did it in pine (as the other rooms were pine). So we have a grand total of one floor's worth of experience. This is going much faster than last year's project, but we "know what we're doing" now.

(175,749 posts)It looks great, especially in the living which is painted red. I have an old predominantly red Persian rug that is in there and the colors really come together.
My nephew and his wife did the hardwood flooring in their family room and never got further than that one room. It looks great, though, as I am certain that yours will.

(24,146 posts)we're still just getting started, only three years. here's the menu for where we're going, i've been looking at it for two days and still have no idea what i'm going to get.
i've got a simple purple dress with a thin black patent leather belt, it's very demure and i love it because i don't need a fancy bra or underwear for it i've got heels to match the dress. we don't dress up often, so i'm really excited.

(146,218 posts)1/2 dozen oysters, heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozz and the smoked duck breast.
And, if I could possibly take another bite, I would get the cheese plate for dessert.
I am a huge fan of small plates. I like lots of different foods in small quantities.
Your outfit sounds stunning. Dressing up once in a while is a wonderful thing.
I understand from my mom (in Boulder) that the leaves are beautiful right now. Have a wonderful evening. My best wishes for your continuing love.

(24,146 posts)i have definitely been eyeing both the tom/mozz and duck breast, i never developed a taste for oysters but i do love a good crab cake.
we're heading out for a drive up into the mountains. it's mostly black up there from the fire earlier this year, so it's more of a pilgrimage than a leisure drive, but i know we'll see some color is spots.

Enjoy!

(29,098 posts)I was going to make something with the huge zucchini I pulled out of the garden...but it will keep till tomorrow. SO has left over Corned Beef and I'll probably throw some chicken, mushrooms and leeks into the actifry for myself.

(106,886 posts)Had onion rings as a snack on a walk downtown last night. They were killer. Not the usual heavy, doughy stuff. These were crispy, light and flaky.
Anyway, had half a serving to add to something today. Topped my left over potato dish from yesterday - baked potato with grated cheese, ham, fresh salsa, sour cream - with the rings and ran all under a broiler real quick.
It's only 3 PM pacific and I'm already looking for a movie...pinto's marker for a good solo at home meal. But there's still time for some DU browsing, some paper work and another walk...

(35,720 posts)Pork roast that had the crispiest outside. Spinach, roasted vegetables, and mushrooms. We put a little sage pesto on the roast. Instead of knocking off two bottles of wine, we cut it back to one between the two of us.
