Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumI'm not really very good at cooking and baking, but I still try.
Made a small (3 cups of flour) boule for my husband and me, today.
The house smells so good when the bread is baking.

(11,349 posts)Then I take out the dough, place it on a parchment paper in a Dutch oven, and slash it and allow it to rise a second time in a warm oven. Then I bake in the Dutch oven.
I used this recipe today

I did slice off a small end piece and it turned out as well as I hoped! It has good flavor, a very crunchy crust, and soft interior crumb.
I think my husband will be very happy with the bread! He likes to use my homemade bread for his morning toast.

(69,698 posts)I'll give it a try one of these days.
It sounds and looks like it turned out perfectly!
I think you're not giving yourself enough credit for being a great cook/baker!

(69,698 posts)IMO, baking is the hard part. Cooking is an art, they say, and baking is a science. A little too much or too little of this or that and your bakery is destroyed. Much easier to cook than bake.
So kudos to you as you've mastered the hardest part first!
