Sometimes when we come to the big city, I just have to get my fill of someone elses cooking for a few days.

One of the disadvantages of boat living is that many of our friends also live on boats. While ours is a true live aboard with lots of room for cooking and eating, many people have much more limited space.

As a result, although we often entertain, we are very rarely entertained. But, here in the big city, we have a friend with an actual apartment and he has invited us over for dinner.

I am totally psyched!

but I am leaning towards just making a brie and tomato omelet, maybe cut up some fruit for a salad and toast.

and sweet potato cottage fries, only done in the oven. Big green salad.

Hi Grasswire,

I'm just without internet now. For 10 days, though, we had no heat and it did get very cold. One night I slept in the bed with my wool coat on and a down comforter. Three kitties with me, as my husband was in Mass when the storm hit. My neighbor told me she slept with her winter gloves on!

I make do with the computer, iPod, and Nook, which has lots of old C2C programs, podcasts, movies, etc. on, but it is hard to do without the i'net. I miss dropping in on DU and seeing what everyone is up to.

I've been fighting a cold for over a week. Haven't had much appetite but its slowly coming back. I'm thinking of bruschetta made with fresh thyme (forgot to get basil) on toasted French bread with melted cheese.

Some boneless, skinless thighs, dipped in Panko + Italian Bread Crumbs and baked. We ended up eating it with some Mango Salsa.

Baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, leftover cooked kale (all for me...no one else will even look at it), leftover heated cornbread (well of course with unsalted butter and honey), watermelon...I think that was it...and, there was too much so there are leftovers again!
