My contibutions to the free Thanksgiving feast at the local Unitarian Church...

Lousy phone camera, but you get the idea.

On the left the garlic mashed potatoes with red pepper strips roasted in half of a large cheese pumpkin. On the right is a near disaster-- squash soup with cranberries in the other half of the pumpkin. The pumpkin cracked when taking it out of the oven but we saved it by getting it into a roasting pan before the soup all escaped.

Good for you.

I'm sure all the folks eating were very appreciative.

Mama Stamberg's cranberry relish to be precise. Many were curious, all enjoyed.

The cleaned and partially gnawed "bowls" and requests for recipes were gratifying.

BTW, we do this every year-- open the doors to anyone and everyone on Thanksgiving and usually get 40-50 people show up. Nobody should have to eat alone on a day historically based on community.

like that! Great presentation, but I am too klutzy to pull that off.

Congrats!

after cutting the top off, and use that for the bowl. I don't even bother to cook the pumpkin because Halloween pumpkins taste lousy and it's all for looks.
This time, i never got the brussels sprouts done for that other half, so I used it for the soup.

This is so easy I'm not sure you're too clutzy.
