I made these Wild Mushroom Bundles yesterday for our celebration tonight. I used crimini, shitake, and dried porcini mushrooms but have used plain button mushrooms bumped up with one of the dried varieties in the past and it's all good. It's a beautiful dish, the most elegant way I know to serve collards, and it tastes spectacular. Our At Home New Year's Eve Menu:

(12,253 posts)Mr. Pup came down with a body churning, body sore flu yesterday morning. I'm going to serve them today as a side to some black eyed peas and polenta. It is a good recipe if you ever feel wildly ambitious. They aren't difficult to make, but making them can turn into a time suck for sure. Now, I'm going to find out if holding them for two days in the refrigerator makes a difference.

The black eyed peas, polenta, collard-mushroom bundles, and I changed from spicy carrots to a plain baked potato (naked) just to keep it easy on the digestion. No meat either, just to play it safe. I'm so glad you found real Philly cheese steaks! Best of all things to you and everyone you love in the coming year.

New Years Day on the other hand feels like a new lease on life.
So..... I am doing about 10 loads of laundry today, lol.

(12,253 posts)That was fun on New Years Eve, and dancers aren't hard drinkers so the parties are actually fun all night and don't get stupid at the end. Feets fail me now. Laundry is one of those things that makes you feel great when it's over. Pumpin' laundry is a healthy way to spend the day, anyway.

(16,334 posts)But I went to see the latest version of Anna Karenina and I really felt like I wanted to put on one of those ballgowns and learn how to dance! Yesterday I decided to watch the netflix old version (much longer!) and it confirmed the feeling. But all the layers underneath make me think it would be hard to move in one of those outfits and it's got to be hot!!

(12,253 posts)of the menu. Mambo, cha-cha, samba, rhumba, tango, and of course the jive (which is European for American rock dancing). For those dances, the costumes are skimpy and sparkly so if you get hot dancing (and you will) all you have to do is step outside and cool off. Hubby was traumatized as a child when nuns tried to teach him to waltz, so we just don't go there. Fox trots are okay, but (to me) kind of boring. Plus, I have never liked the (overly) formalized stances and head positions for the lady partner for the smooth dances and far prefer the 'get out there and shake it' rhythms. I've never tried to dance in a ball gown, but I imagine it would be difficult to keep one up. We took up ballroom as an exercise program, and it is a wonderful way to keep in shape without 'counting reps.' If you have a partner, cheap group lessons are the way to go.
