(22,145 posts)My husband is in town buying a bottle of Asti and we will go next door to our neighbors outdoor party. Yes outdoors in all this snow! They run a cabin rental business and have this annual party for their guests. They provide a huge fire, lots of food and drinks and this year they are having a DJ! The woods will be noisy. We never stay long and will trudge through all this snow to get back to our warm house .

(31,170 posts)cabins, just a few full-time residents around here, but the cabins are owned by individuals so they don't do organized functions. Thats a great idea!

(158 posts)Chicken sautéed with vegetables in Trader Joe's Masala Simmer Sauce with naan and probably some kind of rice. It's snowing beautifully here, and I just had to make some cookies- tried out Joy of Cooking's "Pecan or Angel Slices"- wow! Like pecan-coconut pie. Happy New Year!

(31,170 posts)I had planned on antipasto if Bill didn't find a good deal on burgundy steaks. Things get way overpriced here (a tourist town) but we got lucky!

(35,680 posts)I'm taking: Pumpkin soup with pumpernickel croutons. Tossed salad, mostly bitter greens but with some romaine, shaved parmesan cheese, and toasted pine nuts.
I know shrimp is on the menu--at least that's what my friend told me. Baked apples with Greek yogurt is dessert. My sparkling wine will be "virgin."
Can't imbibe as the drive is about 45" each way.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year!!

(12,253 posts)Mr. Pup came down with the flu. So, it's chicken soup tonight in stead of lamb chops. Sigh. No celebrating but still, much for which to be thankful. Happy New Year!

So, will get the other one on Wednesday.

(146,218 posts)I am a lover of the cheesesteak and was thrilled to find a place here that did them just like they do in Philly.
Now, if I could just find a New Orleans style hot roast beef (smothered in gravy), I would be in heaven.

Oh and a good Hurricane.
Oh and jumbalia.
Oh and gumbo from Mr. B's.
Oh and alligator sausage from that place we went to on my birthday.
Oh and "The All Purpose Blues Band".
Wait... Is that more than one?

The dinner was well received.
