(28,791 posts)I have been ignoring the corners for weeks now, focusing on Gran and then dealing with the paperwork and sorting out the house.
I also need to get my tomatoes seeded, tomorrow is the dentist and groceries.. then that machine will be humming
cbayer
(146,218 posts)That should be my one goal for today. Plus we have a houseguest coming tomorrow, so there is the matter of preparing the guest berth (which DH uses as his junk room most of the time).
Well, good luck with yours!
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)I just can't do it. Maybe when the sun comes back out again....been snowy here lately!

(146,218 posts)I've got two artichokes I am going to cook today and some salad fixings that need eating.
And cheese.
Maybe an antipasto type salad?

(146,218 posts)We are in a remote harbor and had planned to return to the town tomorrow because of the guest coming in.
But, surprise!!! Engine is not working, lol. Parts are supposed to come in today, but I have been around long enough to know how that goes.
So, I can't answer you except to say, "I hope so".
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and that you can restock soon
Lucinda

(31,170 posts)I've fallen in love with white navy beans after a looong time of avoiding them. My mom used to cook hers to death.
I usually use black beans or pintos & kidneys in my veggie Mexican recipes.

(22,165 posts)My husband has a huge problem with beans, legumes, cruciferous veggies......since I am the cook and the committed vegetarian, he eats what I make and then reaches for the gas pills. Beano never has worked for him. I put a teaspoon of baking soda in near the end of cooking time and that seems to help a little.
I love all beans and have many recipes using them. I really like dried lima beans, but those seem to bother my husband the most.

(24,146 posts)cook up the acorn squash, a few taters and some carrots, drop in a can of chick peas and condensed milk and whiz the immersion blender through it.

(35,745 posts)I'm going to make Italian Wedding Soup. I happen to like it. I have to make it while my spouse is away, since he looks askance at me when I say that.
I'm also roasting more cherry tomatoes today, along with some orange peppers. These are staples in my house. Love them both and find them so handy to have to embellish dishes.

(24,146 posts)i'm out of chili powder, so i'll use either cayenne or maybe dried chipotle. a bay leaf while cooking the veggies. onions and garlic, too, of course.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)I like adding it to savory dishes too. I am still exploring with it, and use a light hand. But it works out well!

(50,130 posts)Fresh pickled dilly carrots, fresh pickled giardinara (cauliflower, pearl onions, carrots, etc.) and fresh pickled beets. Also some chips from a brand new to us -- Boulder potato chips from Colorado. They are delicious -- I could only have a few, but yearned for more! So crispy! And not too salty.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)yum.
and boulder chips really are great.
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)Never heard of them til I moved to Colorado about a yr ago.

(31,170 posts)Love reubens!
I've never heard of the Boulder chips. I'll mention them to Bill....he's a potato chip gourmet! He tries them all.

(50,130 posts)...that I cooked earlier in the week. I don't like the corned beef in my Kroger deli. Wish I had a kosher deli nearby, but don't.

(106,886 posts)And, of course, pasta layered with tomato sauce. Was out of greens / cukes / zucchini to cut for a side salad.
So it was a meat, cheese, marinara and pasta dinner.

(9,791 posts)I still have a few bags of roasted garden tomatoes in the freezer so I used two of them to make a big pot of sauce. There's a lot left over but I'll freeze that and use it in baked ziti next week. The sauce was delicious and the steak was very tender. Beef is so expensive having steak is a treat for a change.
