(22,845 posts)Grilled Swiss cheese and sauerkraut on rye bread, with homemade Russian dressing.
If you decide to try this, make sure you squeeze all the liquid out of the sauerkraut, and warm it slightly in the microwave before making the sandwiches.
Russian dressing:
mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tbs. ketchup
2 tbs. pickle relish
2 tbs. lemon juice
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. coarse salt
1/4 tsp, black pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp. celery seed (or celery salt, but reduce the amount of coarse salt)
chill before using

(146,218 posts)Our house guest misses the UK terribly. He didn't eat a bit of supper last night and I asked him what his dream meal would be. He wants a full English breakfast - sausage, canadian bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs (all fried) with toast and baked beans.
And that is what he shall have!

(106,886 posts)And a typical part of Saturday light suppers. Some kind of sausage, toast and baked beans, with relishes, horseradish and mustard.
Have fun with the meal!

(146,218 posts)Our guest said it was the best meal he had had in a long time and DH seemed to love it as well.
The baked beans were critical, imo.

(106,886 posts)Not really a big pizza eater, but when I want a slice (that's how we would say it, "Do you want to go for a slice?" I like it thin.
Best pizza I ever had was from a local joint on the coast north of Boston. Lobster and clam with a white cheese sauce and spices. No tomato, nothing red at all. Pricey, but a treat.

(175,751 posts)Thin crust pizza is popular here, too. I like it with tomatoes, sausage, onions and mushrooms.

(106,886 posts)There's one pizza place in town that keeps it basic, if you want it. Some are more adventurous and very popular. Yet for a simple piece of pizza or two, that's where I go.

(272 posts)was one I haven't made in years! (What is the matter with me?) It's a medium crust with Greek garlicky eggplant dip spread over it and topped with summer garden tomato slices, herbs, Parmesan, salt and pepper and drizzled with a fruity olive oil. Thanks for reminding me!

(106,886 posts)Well spiced and when they pulled it out of the oven, topped with fresh basil and olive oil.

(24,380 posts)I had a portion of a leftover ribeye steak and had been thinking of steak and eggs for a while.
So I did that plus some French Toast.
With 3 over medium
And bacon.

And beer.
Almost forgot the beer.

(2,012 posts)I've been gone from Chicago 38 years now but I've never had a pizza anywhere that held a candle to Uno's deep-dish. However, the "authentic" thin crust, fresh tomato pizza in Venice wasn't bad!
