I have been cooking quite a bit for all of them, but made it clear that the group has just gotten too big to entertain on the boat (we are up to 7 now).

cooking for a lot of enthusiastic people who hesitate to suggest taking you out to dinner for fear of offending you. And, also because it is cheaper and easier just to come to your house(boat) to socialize and because they love you.

if for no other reason than the expense sometimes.

But I have one of those husbands who acts rather like a guest when we have guests, so it often ends up being a lot of work.

I know that you know all this to be true because the same is true of you!

When he is around, Mr. Pup is good about helping out now that I've learned that he can take specific instruction even if he can't take a hint. Of course, as soon as the party starts he's at the party! I cook at a level far beyond what any restaurant within my affordability range can produce, and I'm sure you're in the same position. Tonight, however; it is still restaurant week and since it is my birthday, we are going back to Harpers for their 3-courses, $29.95 (about half price)! Tomorrow I am producing a birthday luncheon for myself since my actor friends aren't available nights. It's a big show with the main feature being duck glazed with herbs de Provence and honey. I'll post my menu in tomorrow's what's for dinner thread. It took me years to figure this out, but if your man doesn't mind being bossed around you could try giving him orders. (teehee)

Have a great time. Looking forward to your menu.

Funny about your husband. Mine is the same. If I can get his attention and tell him exactly what to do, he will do it and do it happily. But offer help or just notice that things need to be done? Never going to happen.

All I've tried are excellent. And I can't make any of them at home. Nice treat.

Take care Lucinda, hope things resolve.

Middle Eastern restaurant we heard about . I had a combination platter with hummus, stuffed grape leaves (rice and pine nuts), tabouli, pita, pickled yellow peppers, and baba ghanouj. Could not squeeze in a piece of baklava. I am stuffed .

On pumpernickel with chipotle mayo and thinly sliced red onion.

Roasted carrots, leeks, mushrooms and garlic. Macaroni salad and pickles.
