the better half had to do some tests at the doctor and hasn't really had a true meal since Friday. This was requested.

(106,886 posts)Not sure how I'll do the fish - peppered, limed, breaded and baked or pan browned most likely. Don't fry fish at home which would be my first choice. Good size fillet.

(106,886 posts)So a Weber deal sounds good. Thinking of foil wrap for the beans and trading out some new potatoes for the rice. An all grill dish.
pinto
(106,886 posts)tight in foil with the sunflower kernels and some olive oil. Let the coals get down to grey hot (I usually make the mistake of putting stuff on red hot coals). Set the beans in. Seared the catfish till crusty on both sides. Covered till everything was done.
Had three shot glasses of dips on the side - soy sauce, hot mustard, sweet plum sauce. And pinto's current obsession, watermelon for dessert.
Nice one.

Waiting for boat repairs to finish so I can start provisioning. Right now, there is just too much disorder to bring stuff on board.

Pedestrian yet tasty sides of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.
I only get to cook two nights this week. The nights I work, my 17 year old son handles the supper making duties. He does pretty well, but I still miss being able to make supper every night.

(20,234 posts)Yesterday I cooked the last of my thanksgiving sale turkeys.
Today I broke the bones down into broth and I'll use lovage from the garden to season it.
And I spent a few hours picking and pitting sour cherries from the trees in my yard, and made 7 pints of sour cherry jam. Dang, that's slow work.
Also, in case anyone needs to know this - that microwave brownie in a mug recipe works really well with a handful of fresh sour cherries tossed in.

(35,678 posts)I used to grow lovage and remember it for its beautiful purple flower.
Like you, I've been harvesting from my gardens, too. It is a lot of work! I am making arugula pesto and also lemon balm tea. Peppermint tea, too.
It will be wonderful, however, to remember your sour cherries when winter rolls around and you can have a cup of tea and toast with jam, yes?
Also, I like to put my canned goods on display in my cabinets. There's something very warming and cozy about seeing them and knowing I both grew and harvested them. Along with Mother Nature, that is.
On another topic, at our union meeting we had some kind of chicken rolled up in a roundish shape and browned. It had a sauce. It was good. Also salmon and a Chinese beef dish. Mashed potatoes, big green salad. Tortellini. For dessert, plates of fancy cookies. Chocolate cookies with filling, cannoli little cups filled with fruits.
