(106,886 posts)I use the "Near East" brand taboule salad mix. Pretty good. It's already done and chilling in the fridge. The rest is quick, simple to finish when I'm ready to eat.

(39,961 posts)Mine are from a can, but I like *all* green beans. How do you saute yours? I can buy fresh ones, so what do you do to make them tasty ?

(106,886 posts)then finished in the oven. One skillet meal.
For the beans I keep it simple - salt, pepper, slivered almonds. The pan saute is in butter. Tarragon's a good herb for beans, but I'm skipping it - the salmon breading has plenty.

(39,961 posts)but I'll forgo the almonds:

Seems very similar to your recipe. I need to try it when I have fresh ones!

(106,886 posts)My grandmother's staple to go with the headliners - turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberries. Loved it.

(39,961 posts)for no reason other than I found a turkey breast at a really good price. LOL.

(24,146 posts)sounds like a tasty dinner

(39,961 posts)and green beans. They are just humble green beans from the can, but I wonder, is there a way to make them as good as the ones from KFC? I love green beans from there.
Oh, and I'm making a bit of stuffing, too.
ETA: None of this is fried. Despite what some might imagine, we actually bake meats and vegetables here in the South, too
pinto
(106,886 posts)Flash frozen and they hold a good green color and firm texture when cooked. The beans from KFC, are they breaded and deep fried? Don't think I've had them. (KFC doesn't have a franchise spot here.)
Aerows
(39,961 posts)I like the taste and texture of them. They are savory without being overpowering, but they are cooked a bit too much. If I could get that in green beans that aren't overcooked, it would be heaven. I *love* them, and always have.
ETA: I've tried frozen ones, too, and they are delicious, but I haven't figured out what to season them with to get a good, savory flavor. Love them anyway, but they are just shy of how I'd like them

(6,057 posts)I never go to KFC so I had no idea that they even offered green beans on the menu!

I seriously wasn't kidding, but that sounds like a promising recipe!
Thank you

(41,694 posts)So I'm going down to the sprouts and get a banana, ice cream, and whipped cream. I got raspberries and blackberries here.

(146,218 posts)I would have had DH pick up supplies for that.
Enjoy!

(146,218 posts)We have bananas and some berries. Now I just need to figure out how to make a chocolate sauce from ovaltine.
Will research.

(106,886 posts)(on edit) pinto in an odd position, rooting for the Yankees to beat Tampa Bay. Tampa and the Sox are tied in the AL East.

(146,218 posts)Thanks for the suggestions on the chocolate sauce. I think I am going to try it and maybe make the bananas as bananas foster, then put the sauce on them.

(175,733 posts)Since I can't barbecue and most briskets are too big for me unless I want to eat it for a week. A baked potato and sliced tomato.
sad-cafe
(1,277 posts)1-2 lbs ground beef
1 bunch of green onions diced
1 small white onion diced
2 cans tomato sauce
1 can petite diced tomatoes
1 cup brown sugar
1 box pasta . We use shells.
Boil noodles to desired tenderness--rinse and set aside
Brown hamburger-drain
add brown sugar ( I actually use a little more because I like it sweet)
Add onions, Tomatoes and sauce. Mix thoroughly. Add the cooked noodles and simmer a few minutes.
We serve it with Garlic bread.
My father used to make that when I was a kid. It was delicious. I'll have to make that again sometime. He always added a can of corn to it instead of the sugar.

(1,277 posts)the brown sugar does make it sweet.

(39,961 posts)Yours sounds great, but you may want to try it .

(39,961 posts)I wish I would have bought two of them and stuck one in the freezer, but as it stands, there's plenty left over. If anybody left the table hungry after that, it was because they were trying!
It came out great!

(35,662 posts)With chicken and lots of thyme.
Zucchini muffins to go with.
Making now to serve late tonight, as I made a mid-day brunch. I made quiche with chipotle cheese, mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, spinach, onion, red pepper. On top I put sauteed zucchini rounds with lots of garlic.
Cornbread to go with and I also cut a microgreen salad from the raised bed in my garden that I designed especially for them. That was actually the main meal of the day.

(50,130 posts)Picked the green tomatoes just before frying them. Dusted the tomato slices with cornmeal and panko, and fried them in butter/oil.
