I bought the biggest butternut squash I've ever seen today. I'm gonna have to think about what to do with it.

(106,886 posts)I've 2/3 of the supermarket broiled chicken that needs to diced and sliced. Leftover curried rice. Plenty of veggies for a good stir fry. And a bit of macadamia oil.
Sounds good to me, as long as I do the prep well and get a hot pan going for a quick stir.
I tend to go too cool and too slow.

(106,886 posts)All I do is rinse it, lightly trim the bottom. Keeps fresh for a while that way. Also, I always check the cut edge from the market selections to look for the freshest harvest. Green - good. Brown or dried out - pass. Same with asparagus.

(175,742 posts)This is maybe three weeks old, though, since I've been eating tomatoes. Even romaine has a limited freshness window

(106,886 posts)Especially if the cut leaves a good bit of base below the core.
Have you all dried out from the recent run of storms?

(175,742 posts)Cut from the bottom up as I use it. This was just yucky, brown from the core up and mooshy.
There was some flooding in my town, according to a Facebook group on the local rainwater problems. Someone mentioned people kayaking down the street a couple of blocks from where I live. It was fine where I was. Town's storm sewers are old and not big enough to accommodate heavy storms anymore. Most of the housing stock is old so not a case of recent development taking away open land. Also, the western border is a river that tends to overflow a short distance downstream, though the banks here tend to be high enough to avoid that.

They might be good with some beans or something.
Weather is bad again and I am totally uninspired.

If you've ever had one, you know.
If you ever stop there, get one. But get the 'mini' taco unless you're starving.
