what's for dinner - sunday, july 20th

We had dinner at my husband's friend's house last night, so we'll do the chicken boobs tonight. whether they're grilled or baked will depend on how late we eat. either way we'll have it with a big salad.

only I'm skipping the "aloo" part (the potatoes). I'm adding cauliflower, and will serve it over basmati rice.

I haven't made this in years, but I woke up thinking about it. So, off to Costco I went, and picked up a leg of lamb.

It's simmering now on the stove, and in a couple of hours it's yummy time.

The house smells awesome!!

We had some fabulous meals in rome and anything I could fix right now would just be a let down, I'm afraid.

Maybe just some cereal and bananas.

I would love some of them right now.

We are getting fresh figs from our property, but we were too lazy to go out and pick them tonight.

And now we regret it.

They really are better than any others I've had so far. Okay, I won't rub it in. Fresh figs ripe for the picking....

(We are in the final phase of a home renovation, and thus…. kitchen is demo'd for the moment - no stove, and make-shift sink downstairs in a newly refinished basement)…

So, this seems to be chicken day…

Bought two rotisserie chickens (garlic rosemary), and after chopping all that meat up, mixed a nice chicken salad together (organic celery, walnuts, cherry flavored dried cranberries, chopped gala apple, mayo), and kale potato salad, macaroni salad from deli.

Honestly, between this, having made a big batch of granola, other cereals, lettuce, cheese, fruit and other raw veggies, we're gonna need a take out pizza. The chix salad should be enough for several days.

Grilled vegetables.

Cuz last night a friend stopped over with a big order from the Indian restaurant that we consider the best. He had lamb korma and shrimp tikka masala. It was great, but hot?

I love hot food so much. To cool off, I had some coconut rice, which was way off my no-carb diet. And then there were all the accompaniments, like the thin-crust stuff that is dipped into the mint mixture.

(Did you just note my sophisticated culinary vocabulary? "Stuff.&quot

Galileo, I laughed when I read your post because I, too, plan on an Indian lamb dish. For me it will be lamb korma, though, and that will be later in the week as I'm having a guest early in the week.

Luvs me some Indian food!!!!!

Great minds, etc...

I will say that the vindaloo came out awesome. I'm glad I spent the time preparing it. And, now I have another 3lbs of lamb leg in the freezer, just begging to be made into grilled skewers and veggies.

(very nice, freshly picked green beans, although not from my garden.)

Had to discard one of our baby watermelon from the garden that was rotting underneath. I need to get the others up off the grass so they don't rot too.

But I've got some fairly sturdy small square fencing. I should be able rig something with than and some bricks.

I can't wait for some of these guys to get big enough to eat. It's been a couple of years since I last planted watermelons.
