Whats for dinner sticky

In the cooking and baking section of the home and family forum it seems almost every second topic is asking whats for dinner.
To declutter the list of food topics wouldnt it be logical to just have a whats for dinner tonight sticky?

Just a thought.

I like the tradition of the daily "What's for dinner" thread. I think most of us enjoy it. pinto Aug 2014 #1

No--I like the daily because I can easily go back and see what people made for certain holidays. nt msanthrope Aug 2014 #3

I like to read through the various ideas / dishes when I get to thinking about dinner. It's a fun part of the group.

the forum used to be a lot busier so the What's For Dinner threads were spread out. Posting one every days gives people something to post about because we usually all eat dinner. My problem is I often post early in the day when I have no idea what we're having for dinner!

If we had a sticky, how would we differentiate (for example) the Monday posts from the Tuesday posts at a glance? I wouldn't want to have to study over the posts to figure out what day it was posted.

each other. It's not just about the food, but sometimes about what is going on in your life. It gives others ideas and it's a chance to ask questions.

I agree that sorting through a sticky post would be cumbersome at best.

It would take the fun out of discovering something 'new' that someone has prepared, or is going to prepare, each day.

I, for one, like the daily posts... everyday is different when it comes to the food world. (Unless you are a dog or cat... but I'll save that idea for the Pets forum.)

just my 2 cents...

Didnt mean to rock the proverbial boat.
Checking any given day in a sticky would be just a matter of checking the dates of the posts so you still get the spontaneity of daily recipes but they would be in one place rather than scattered all over, any particular recipe you saw in the past can be easily retrieved through a search if it was some time ago.

The thread would get very long, very quickly.

In order to see what people were doing that day, which is what many of us enjoy, you would have to page all the way down to the bottom.

There is a pinned sticky at the top of the board where you can put recipes that you may want to find later. Also, the search function is great for this. You can just search the group using a keyword.

Anyway, I hope you will join us here. what are you having for supper today?

This may sound heretical, but I don't really care what other people are having for dinner.
