Sam Kass, the Obamas’ Foodmaster General

Back in 2005, when President Obama was a mere freshman senator, his wife, Michelle, found herself overwhelmed with the stress of being a full-time working mother, largely alone in her Chicago home, with two daughters who got sick a little too often. Sluggish and above her fighting weight, she wondered if her family’s diet — lots of prepared food and a few too many Cheetos — might need an adjustment.

In came Sam Kass, a longtime Chicago friend of the family and chef for hire. Mr. Kass plowed through the Obama pantry, took out offending foods and began preparing whole grains and steamed vegetables for Mrs. Obama and the girls, who liked to trail Mr. Kass in the kitchen while he chopped and stirred.

From there, Mr. Kass found himself an astounding beneficiary of luck and timing as he blazed a trail of cruciferous vegetables into the first lady’s heart. Today he is one of her top policy advisers, the first family’s personal chef and a window into the zealously guarded space and tastes of the Obama White House. . .

In a demonstration of Mr. Kass’s closeness to the Obamas, Mr. Obama spent five hours in Mr. Kass’s Logan Circle apartment last week — in the middle of crises in Iraq, Ukraine and Ferguson, Mo. — ostensibly celebrating the chef’s last week as a bachelor. This weekend, the first family will attend Mr. Kass’s wedding, to Alex Wagner of MSNBC, at a Westchester County farm-to-table restaurant favored by the Obamas. . .

“He is on the forefront of a social movement,” said Dan Barber, the executive chef at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, N.Y., the site of the Wagner-Kass wedding. “I have watched it with admiration.”

Urm, catch up Mr. Kass. Since 2013, millions have been dumping "healthy whole grains," chiefly wheat. Wheat is a hybridized nightmare that raises glycemic levels and performs other health-nightmare feats. Rice raises glycemic levels and so do many other grains.

I laughed in my doctor's face last week when she gushed about "healthy whole grains."

I dumped them and have never felt better in my life, not to mention I lost weight, completely effortlessly.

Wheat is a problem for millions of people because of the hybridizing. They cut it in half to give themselves a bigger yield. Our health was not a consideration. Personally, I suffered terribly with joint pain for over two decades without knowing this. Most people didn't learn about it until 2013.

I would have oatmeal or some of the other grains, but I'm going a low-glycemic diet, trying to avoid diabetes. It's working out well. Anything to avoid the pharmaceuticals!
