(9,831 posts)and it is sugar-sweet. When I am serving it for a large family group, I double-cut it from the cob (cut kernels off with a very sharp knife, then run the back of the knife blade down the length of the cob to get the rest of the corn out) and add it to a sauce pan with butter. When it is warm, I salt it and serve it. No boiling, and it is sweet, crunchy and DELICIOUS!!
Sorry you had to re-type all that just to 'splain it to me, and I hope you get your phone fixed soon.

(50,130 posts)....in kindergarten. Mr. Duffy had a real nice field of sweet corn and we took advantage regularly..
Been nibbling at raw corn ever since. Yesterday I had half an ear of bi-color for a snac, from the farmers market and picked same morning.

(43,049 posts)was a retired guy who farmed for a hobby. You knocked on his door and asked what was good today, and he scrambled down in the field.
"Just started this variety this year and it's come in this week."
In about 10 minutes the corn was shucked and in the pot just to be heated a little. It was like candy. In those days we would go down off the front porch into the bay and get a bushel or so of clams, and someone was always fishing... Good times, good eats.
The cats loved it, too. One of them would climb up on the stove (it would be off at the time) and fish an ear out of the pot to drag around the house and nibble on. Then they'd fight over it.

(50,130 posts)The minute any ears of corn came into the house from the market, Chester would be in the bag and would demand that some shuck be pulled back and some silk pulled for him to eat.
It was weird. But he was a darling, darling kitteh.

(9,831 posts)cob, we would have to give her a piece of the cob to suck. She would lick it clean, and suck all of the juice out of it. She would carry it around the house like a prized toy!
