Going to eat at Joe T. Garcia's over in Fort Worth. Having a family meet-up there, last big get-together before youngest granddaughter goes off to college. Get to see great granddaughter, too. And chance to eat some great Tex-Mex home style cooking. Only two things on the menu, enchiladas and fajitas, both will all fixings; everything family style served in bowls and platters. Best refried beans anywhere and the old fashioned pan-fried tacos are hard to beat.

(35,677 posts)Meeting a couple friends at an Italian restaurant. However, I'm only having one slice of pizza, due to my boycott of grains.
So for tonight, I think it might be ratatouille. I'd like to serve it over the cauliflower "bagels" I make, but I'm not sure I have the time or energy to do both.
Your excursion sounds delicious, dem in texas.

(14,733 posts)Found a new place that's doing a 'cuban' pizza, presumably with the sliced ham, roast pork, swiss, pickles and mustard. We like the sandwiches, so the pizza sounds fun too.

(14,733 posts)It's what we had handy, and I wasn't feeling up to spending much time in the kitchen. My saffron crocus bulbs arrived in the mail, and I need to start getting them planted. Supposedly I'll have flowers as soon as six to eight weeks after planting. Fresh saffron means digging up some fun recipes It's actually getting cool at nights already too, so no more than maybe a month, month and a half til I plant next year's garlic crop as well. Pulled an apple off the yellow delicious tree and cut it up and split it with the dogs, didn't actually find any bugs in it, despite the puncture wounds on the skin.

(35,677 posts)Both in the garden forum and here. I'm interested in how they grow, but also how you use them for culinary purposes.
I swear, Erich, you are into more different kinds of things. You have quite the repertoire of interests and activities.
The Italian place was good but I had meatballs and they weren't up to standard. The pizza was delicious, though. We had one eggplant/black olive/basil pizza and one other that I didn't try.
But since I had a late lunch and will be dining late tonight, I just put some Mexican-flavored chicken in the slow cooker to warm up. Late tonight I'll have one or two with avocado, onion, chopped fresh tomato from my first one from the garden, grated cheese, a little sour cream--i.e., the works.
So no ratatouille for me tonight--maybe tomorrow. No time to cook: syllabus due Monday.
