What's for Dinner, Wed., June 22, 2016

The RG and I went out to lunch, but we ordered too much food, so I'm going to snack on the leftovers tonight. I'm mostly working in the garden, so not having any distractions, like cooking, is welcome. He has already headed in for the Fancy Food Show, which will be for 3 days this weekend.

One of the items I'm having is shrimp and clam soup.

After that, a salad for sure! I might make it a fruit salad with peaches and blueberries.

with bell peppers, mushrooms, Vadalias, crushed tomatoes, cubes of pre-cooked potatoes. I think I'll make some garlic bread for dunkin'.

My local Winco had a brand called "NY Sausage Co." (based here in SoCal), which were links or uncased chub. They stopped selling the links so as not to compete with their own in-store brand links. I can still buy the 1-lb chub, but I tend to used the uncased for lasagna, which is a rare event for me. The NY brand has the right spice combo for my palette. The Winco brand is OK, but seems a bit flat re: the spices.

Nice you had a local brand, mine was not local, but may be due to 'consolidation' in the industry. Glad it happened now, as I'm retired so my family won't suffer; they're on their own now!

(sharp cheddar/pepper jack/swiss)

I'll slice some apricots and drizzle with a little honey for dessert.
