What's for Dinner, Fri., Nov. 4, 2016

Starting off with cold pear soup. It’s so easy to make: take a ripe pear or two, chop it up, add some vanilla yogurt and then top it with spearmint or peppermint.

Next up will be some Chinese dumplings with hoisin sauce. That’s the appetizer.

The last of the grilled chicken is the entree.

Dessert will be hot chocolate with biscotti.

(from Trader Joe's). I'll probably make a crab tomato-cream sauce for this. A green salad on the side.

I'd found a slow cooker recipe that looked pretty good, then my slow cooker died. I wasn't sad, the darn thing was 30+ years old and didn't have a removable crock so I'd been wishing it would bite the dust for a long time.

So, I had my sous-chef (my son) saute the beef, onions, and garlic, then simmer it with the rest of the ingredients, covered. Not superlative, but filling and tasty.

Now off to read the slow cooker thread
