since there is no way for the onions to burn. I add a little brown sugar sprinkle to deepen the caramelization because I like it that way, but it's not necessary.

Wonderful results.

3 lbs thinly sliced onions
1/2 cup softened butter
1tsp salt

Stir together in a crockpot and cook on low overnight or ~10 hrs

soya sauce. Put a pork roast on top covered in butter and garlic salt. Cooked for 4 hours on high. The onions come out fully cooked but not caramelized per se.

I had tons of onions from the garden and figured that was the best way to deal with them. I just googled recipes and went with it...amazingly easy. I put them in vacuum seal bags and froze them...they were still delicious 6-8 months later.
