Related: About this forumDoes anyone here have a air fryer?
I am waiting for this one to arrive Philips Viva Digital Air Fryer with Rapid Air Technology
I have never used one, known anybody that has used one & don't know anything about them.
I have needed to alter my diet dramatically recently and I figured this was a good place to start (arrives this Friday).
any suggestions and or tips or even reviews will be greatly appreciated.

(10,173 posts)I've been interested in getting one. Some reviews say it works better with frozen veggies than fresh. Let us know how it worked out for you.

(55,147 posts)Wanted to start out easy to get the feel of the machine (watched many a youtube videos).
I made red potatoes & onions (seasoned) & hamburgers.
Started with the red potatoes & onions. Cooked them for 12 minutes, pulled them out gave the basket a good shake, cooked for four more minutes & gave another good shake, added rack with burgers (potatoes under the burgers), cooked five minutes, turned burgers, cooked another five minutes. Total cook time 26 minutes.
I had perfect medium burgers & crispy potatoes that were literally orgasmic! This on the first try.
This morning I made sunny side up eggs in the baking pan that I purchased separately for the machine that were picture perfect.
The first meal I only used a tablespoon of olive oil and for the eggs I used a spray of Pam.
I see a long friendly relationship with me & this air fryer.
I'm impressed it did burgers and chips well.
I just may give investing in this some serious consideration
Thanks.

(58,785 posts)she practically had an orgasm in a thrift shop when she came across an unused one for $20. (I backed away so no one would come to see what we were doing back there.)
I'm not exaggerating, actually. She apparently has a serious list of things she'd never want to cook any other way. They're retired on limited incomes, so she was thrilled she'd never have to face a day without one when her precious old one finally goes to air fryer heaven.

(45,488 posts)Some time has gone by since this thread started, what does everyone think of them now after some use?
I read the reviews on amazon and it appears that most people are putting frozen french fries in them. How would the fries come out if your just cut raw potatoes into fries and air fried them? Anyone know? Cutting out some oil sounds like a good plan, but we don't eat much frozen food, we make stuff from scratch. TIA.
