mine is still simmering at the moment. It's kind of nippy out today, so totally the thing to do (besides, I had this leftover ham, and it was between this, navy bean, or split pea.

with the frozen Easter ham bone.

Well, it took a slightly different route.

First made hambone/green beans/potato boil. Delicious in a slow cooker. Basically just throw the ham bone in with water or chicken stock, cook it till meat is falling off bone then throw in some green beans and small potatoes. Wonderful comfort food with strong mustard/horse radish mix.

THEN, saved the broth and made the bean soup but added some small shell pasta to that basic recipe. Saved a quart or two of the ham bone stock for future uses.
