I have this model. It's almost too big and powerful for my now much smaller empty nest.

It's a great machine!

Occasionally I use mine pretty hard and I broke the 5 qt model so I bought a bigger one. There is a nylon gear that I sheared off, so it wasn't that hard to repair. I still keep the 5 qt model around as a backup, but I never use it anymore unless I need to take it somewhere. I'll probably give it to my daughter when she moves out.

For the vast majority of uses, the Artisan series is going to do everything most cooks are going to ask from it. For extruding pasta, I found the 5 qt model was a bit underpowered and that's how I sheared the gear off.

From the Kitchen Aid factory and store . They even have a Kitchen Aid Museum ...has Julia Child's royal blue mixer from her show!....It's so fun to visit and shop. They also sell Seconds at a fabulous discount.
