Last night was a surprise: we went to the restaurant with the skyline view, but on the way we picked up several friends. I didn't even know the RG had invited others! He said he forgot to tell me (!?!) It was odd because I was missing all of these people. We started off with the seafood appetizer, which is this plate of all kinds of shellfish--crab, lobster, also shrimp. Then bronzini, also pasta with duck. For dessert, out came a triple decker plate with cookies, all made at the restaurant. Our friends just got back from 2 weeks in Iceland, where they played various concerts, so there was a lot to talk about.
The city skyline view was clear and crisp, but the restaurant , which is built in the style of an old castle, was warm and the various fireplaces were lit. This is probably going to be one of my best memories from this cold winter.

Tonight's dinner here was broiled sockeye salmon fillets atop a bed of garlicky baby spinach, tossed greens, and twice-baked Yukon gold potatoes. Plus a glass of dry Reisling.
