Gardening day here, cool and rainy, and the RG is on a biz trip so I am going to warm up some cannellinis he made in the slow cooker. Then I will put chopped red onion and cilantro over them. They are already in a tasty sauce of herbs and olive oil. I will add a sausage from the Polish deli on the side.
Oh! I must tell you about dinner at my friend's last night. We had wild-caught Alaskan salmon, which was so tender and delicious. She made red pepper-tomato salsa to go with it, but honestly, it didn't need a thing to enhance it. Nevertheless, it created a very nice plate presentation. In addition, we had parsley potatoes. There was also tomato caprese salad.
The appetizer was foix gras, which she served with homemade bread. I had some, and it was delicious, but I am against foix gras if it involves any mistreatment of the bird. I didn't want to make an issue.
Dessert was homemade olive oil ice cream with pumpkin seeds in it! I know, I'd never heard of it either. The RG said, "Let's put more olive oil on it," so they started drizzling olive oil over this ice cream and raving about it. I had to, then, and they were right: it was even better with drizzled olive oil over it! I never dreamed of olive oil ice cream in the farthest stretches of my imagination. To go with the ice cream, our hostess made homemade shortbread cookies. It was a good combination.

(33,018 posts)A slice of that, warmed up, and a butter lettuce red& yellow pepper salad. Iced decafe tea.
Warm & humid here all day. Not much of an appetite.

(32,036 posts)I could eat it for dinner alone. But I have to wait for my garden to start producing tomatoes.
I have never heard of olive oil ice cream! Interesting.

(21,024 posts)tossed with capellini in a light cream sauce. The recipe called for a cup of fresh, mixed herbs, chopped. i should have used more dill and fennel and a tad less rosemary.

I am having a BLT. FLFC is lobbying unsuccessfully for some bacon and insisting that his traditional pan fried ground beef is in need of bacon.
Next I'm going to have some cottage cheese and fruit which I will share with him.
FLFC is now extending his fourth leg and actually bending his repaired knee. He has five or more weeks until he is supposed to fully use it. His Vet bills have sure put a crimp in the budget, but we are fortunate to have it covered.
I posted a photo of him in the Lounge a while back.

(5,674 posts)I was gifted a rather large leek today. Started looking up recipes to use it all.
My soup was thrown together with a Lipton soup base, to which I added the egg and leek. Was very good actually.
I made two other dishes that I will have this week.
Lemon and leek linguini (meatless Monday)
And
Creamed leeks...but I had celery and spinach too, so I added both to make it creamed spinach, celery and leek. It is going to be a excellent side dish!

But vodka sauce is so good. I blew it.
