Confession: I don't bake

And I probably never will.

I guess for me it's a matter of priorities. I used to work at a job where I had to pay attention to details. Of course I got paid to do that job.

I don't feel the need to pay attention to how much flour, how much yeast, how much baking powder... etc. No one will pay me for that.

Besides all that, I don't eat very many baked goods--or sweet things, for that matter.

I have been known to make a fruit pie or two, but I don't make the pie dough. Store-bought pie dough w/ some fruit, sugar, cinnamon, corn starch, with a little butter and a little citrus juice and zest.

I have a killer recipe for peanut butter fudge (it was my grandmother's), but the oven is not involved.

I'm more inclined to bake during colder weather, if only just to heat the kitchen. no_hypocrisy Oct 2018 #2

I keep an eye on the main courses I put in the oven.

I guess what I meant was I don't make homemade cakes or brownies, or cookies... things like that.

I put roasts in the oven: roast chicken, roast pork, pot roast, etc. When I make those things I don't measure anything.

I don't think any less of you! I've read enough of your posts to know you're a good person and good Democrat! That's all that counts with me!

"Oh, you poor thing!" But that's me jumping to an unwarranted conclusion because I do like to bake and I very much enjoy the things I make.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest your life is not in any way diminished by your not baking.

I love to cook and bake, but some of my best friends don't cook at all. Different is what makes the world go 'round.

My mother was a great baker. I just like to cook and never use recipes.

Peace
