Pumpernickel cocktail bread, durkees, ham, roastbeef and cheese. Made a batch up last night, for munching all night long.

with filling of left-over steak, mushrooms in a demi-glace sauce.

Vote like a Democrat, live like a Republican. OK, that used to be true when Republicans were people like William F. Buckley.

well something did not go well. The light and airy puffs of pastry actually turned out as lumps of dough.

It was a bit like my recent Beef Wellington which was more like Beef Napoleon, Retreat from Moscow Edition.

I've got a pot of beans that just went on the stove. I decided on bean soup so we can just grab a bowl whenever as we obsess on the returns.

Home made ham stock and chunks of ham from the freezer, andouille sausage, bell pepper, celery, carrots, onion and garlic. Going with some Cajun style seasonings.

I've got some dinner rolls rising to bake.

We have all sorts of sandwich makings to go with the soup if desired.

I've got Irish coffee for later to celebrate.

Last night, the Landlady(!) breaded and fried some veal cutlets. Tonight, she's repurposing them in a parmigiana casserole served with spaghetti with tomato & basil sauce and a mixed salad. We'll probably make some garlic bread, too. We still have some chianti left-over.

Although I love to cook, it's a treat to have off two nights in a row!
