What's for Dinner, Sun., Jan. 13, 2019

The Resident Gourmand is at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, so I am enjoying some of the things he cooked up for me before he left. I'm having cauliflower gratin with a little tossed lettuce salad, and then later, fresh pasta with bolognese sauce.

For dessert, sugar-free toffee and spicy chai tea.

I am making Beef sandwiches with au jus...my middle daughter is hanging out with us and spending the night as she has a job interview. I found the recipe online some years ago...it has unusual ingredients like rosemary and soy sauce but tastes really good. I am using the instapot as I found out she was coming somewhat late. Some red wine with dinner I think. We will have sweet potato fries and cookies and hot coco or coffee for dessert. She also has celiac so all will be gluten free. Enjoy your dinner! Happy Sunday. It is if I have failed to say it nice that you do this everyday. Thanks.

I enjoy reading what others come up with for dinner. Love to "see" our regulars. Love to hear about our FLFC, too! We have a nice group of people here.

I fried packages of ground chicken & turkey with onions & garlic, divvied them up into packets. I opened a can of tomatoes with Italian spices, dropped in some more assorted frozen veggies and heated the soupy mix through. I had some cooked red thai rice, put that in for carbs, sprinkled in some romano cheese on top.

And Ghirardelli 60% cacao semi sweet chips are an excellent chocolate drops for movie watching.

4. Comfort food for a cold NY Sunday

We both had to work today and it was painfully chilly in NYC today. Time for some comfort food.

Red leaf lettuce salad with cherry tomatoes, raisins, walnuts and cubes of cucumber. Drizzled honey Dijon dressing on top. Fresh French rolls with butter.

Roasted chicken with shortbread and mushrooms stuffing.

Le Sueure peas on the side. These petite peas are so delicate, sweet and delicious that it's hard to believe they come in a can. They are delicious!

My son stayed with us last night and he brought Klondike bars so that'll be dessert.

Hope everyone has a good week!

with pepperoni, mushrooms, bacon, black olives and marinated artichokes, not a huge amount of any one thing. Had a small chunk of Fontina cheese left, so I'll put that on with the mozzarella. And a tossed salad. I'm debating if a decent salad dressing could be made from the marinated artichokes liquid.

Pepperoni, onions, red and orange bell peppers, sausage, kalamata olives, fresh mozzerella, shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar cheese. I think that's it!

tossed salad with spinach and craisens plus ranch dressing.

I had cinnamon swirl toast, sleepy time tea, and a Clementine later.

FLFC slept through our dinner. He was tired from bossing the world from the front yard. About four inches of snow there, not much for us, but exhausting for him.

Someone took our snow shovel from the porch overnight but left a metal regular shovel in its place. I'm scratching my head over this. I've never had someone steal something and leave something more valuable in its place. However, we would rather have the snow shovel.
