What's for Dinner, Tues., July 30, 2019

I put some sausages in the slow cooker awhile ago and because it's so hot here, I put it in my front entryway. They are Italian sausages but have cheese and basil mixed in.

We might have more of the angel hair pasta with the homemade tomato sauce the RG made--depends on if we can handle heating up the kitchen.

If not, we have a veggie cold plate made up, along with a few homemade dips and also chipotle hummus with red pepper. I have carrot sticks, radish, cucumber slices, celery, and while at the store, I bought the most beautiful cauliflower. I'll mix in a few bagel crisps and crackers.

For dessert, another cold plate: grapes, mango, cherries, and watermelon

We’re meeting at a golf club restaurant that overlooks Long Island Sound. The chef specializes in seafood.

Looking at the menu, I like the grilled swordfish steak topped with warm greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, garlic, oregano, lemon and olive oil. It’s served with yellow rice.

If I know my kid, he’ll have the surf ‘n’ turf, a ribeye steak with a poached lobster tail served with drawn butter, rice and grilled asparagus.

This place has an awesome dessert tray and I’m sure we’ll make tasty selections.

ETA: You know I’ll get stuck with the check!

I’m turning it into a casserole with rice and veggies. Probably sprinkle some cheese on top.

Tried a new recipe that involved soaking them in buttermilk and dredging in flour before frying. On one hand, they were delicious; on the other hand, the coating tended to fall off. Cucumbers in sour cream on the side.
