Canned sardines, garlic, lemon-juice.

A little bit something to boost your immune-system.

- canned sardines in oil
- 1 whole lot of garlic
- a TINY dash of lemon-juice to taste
- pinch of salt or some parmesan-shavings

Drain the canned sardines into the trash-can. (NOT the sink, or it will get clogged up.) Mince or crush the garlic as finely as possible. Add lemon-juice and salt. Stir until the sardines break up into small pieces. Let marinate for 5 minutes.

Serve with bread.

I agree Detlef.

I'm still amazed at my wife. I was ugly when we met in 84 and have only deteriorated since.

Yet here we are 36 years later annoying each other while exiled to our house.

Just wanted to share that. Cheers

I buy several varieties of canned fishies from sardines, herring, smoked oysters and salmon, maybe some shrimp. Add artisan breads and assorted crackers. Then add my fave sliced cheeses, chopped green onions, stuffed green olives, and some sliced hard boiled eggs. Include some butter, garlic aioli, chili sauce and lemon wedges. This is way beyond a snack, it's our leisurely weekend lunch or movie night dinner served with icy cold beer or a nice dry, red wine.

Our two cat kids always invite themselves to our fishy feasts.

I like Alton Brown's recipe marinating the sardines in red wine vinegar and a bit of EVOO. Then spread on bread with avocado...... yum!! I put garlic and sliced onion on it also...

You can drain the liquid into a bowl and give it to your kitty as a special treat. My former cat would run from across the house if she heard a sardine can being peeled open.

Put the marinated sardines on some whole grain bread with a sliced hard boiled egg, a bit of onion and some avocado slices for a super-healthy lunch entree.
