The storm took a big tree down in my back yard and it is strung over the cable lines. I think we'll be OK, but if you don't hear from me, that's what it is.
We're having takeout sushi tonight. Volcano roll is one of my favorites and we also have salmon and tuna.
After that, sliced pears and Irish cheese.
Then the last of the bread pudding, which we changed around by grating chocolate over it. Fresh pot of hot ginger tea, too.

On another note, if any of you are planning on canning this year, please see yesterday's thread. If...fish... listed the items she canned last year and it is an outstanding list! I plan on checking out the recipes for this summer. See post #15.

(22,037 posts)We're going to eat our way through all of the goodies left over from the weekend: grilled salmon, beef ribs and some lasagna. We have a salad and some wild rice and some asparagus.
Like your RG (I think), I'm not a huge fan of leftovers but I hate throwing out good food even more!
Good luck with the tree. I'm glad it didn't hit your house!

(38,560 posts)I hate throwing out food too.
I think of leftovers as a chance to get creative.
That leftover grilled salmon--salmon cakes. The ribs become soup.
There's an art to it, really. Knowing that there's going to be leftovers and including it in the menu plan and shopping list.
I wish I were better at it.

Actually, the Landlady(!) is really creative with leftovers. She repurposes things as you suggest quite often. Our freezer has a half dozen pints of her homemade chicken and beef broths from all of the soups she's made.
My creativeness in the kitchen is generally for the first round. If I'm preparing the leftovers, I usually just reheat the same meal we had before. I guess I'm something of a Luddite!

(2,012 posts)and your cable lines too. Those were terrible storms, just read 30 people are dead and so many homes destroyed. I think a lot of us are helped in these sad times by preparing your great recipes for our families.
