(35,688 posts)Grated them by hand. Boiled the grated potatoes in salted, boiling water. Mixed potatoes with flour, butter, and put in cast iron skillet. Easy and fast.
This is an easy dish to add any herb to, just to make it a little different.

This person bought some type of glove that prevented that. However, when I was placing an order for one, the RG asked if I knew how many potato pieces I could put in the vegetable stock container; point being to quit grating while there is plenty of potato left.
I think of that remark every time I put a piece of potato in the vegetable stock.

(38,562 posts)Al wants just extra cheese, but there are a few leftover shrimp from the other day that I think I'll put on my side of the pizza with some garlic and broccoli.
Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
(As I was making the cookies, I was tempted to put some orange zest in the dough. I nixed the idea because I though Al would disapprove. I'm just wondering if any of you folks have tried anything like that. I mean--orange and chocolate is a classic combo...)

(22,037 posts)We have several different German sausages that I'll grill.
Sauerkraut, of course along with a really coarse brown mustard.
Home-grown lettuce and cucumbers with red onion and tomatoes will make up our salad.
Fresh rolls with butter and Dinkelacker beer.
We'll finish the chocolate mousse birthday cake for dessert.
ETA: I'd love to know how you made the potato cakes!

(35,688 posts)on your b'day yesterday.
That makes us both Leos, right? Mine was 7/31, same day as Jackie Kennedy's b'day would have been.
Are there enough instructions above for you to make the potato pancakes? The good thing about making them this way is how quickly they cook.
The potato pancake takes up the whole space of the cast iron skillet. The skillet gives it a nice, golden brown.
I love German food and chocolate mousse is my #1 fave dessert.

Read the thread about the racist Aunt Jemima for VP comment by the mayor of Luray, and my second thought was, Mmmm. Pancakes.
(First thought was What an complete asshole, he needs to resign.)
ETA: reading upthread it looks to be a pancake-y kind of night!
