Sorry i've been A.W.O.L.
When you have several things wrong with you
and they all go kaplooey at once,
you tend to crawl in bed and wait it out.
Hope you are all doing well!
What's for dinner where you are?

(146,218 posts)I'm making burgers again. They were great the other night and I made two extra, so I just have to reheat and put the cheese on.
And corn on the cob. I have a really crappy microwave, but I am going to try the method suggested in the video. I will just have to run the generator and double the time.

(12,253 posts)We tried it last week. You may need to remove some of the outer husks before it slips out as in the video. I'm guessing that the smallish, young ears I bought were wrapped a little tightly. Enjoy!

(146,218 posts)Readings? Food?

(12,253 posts)the reading exceeded everyone's expectations. This was a script-in-hand reading with minimal blocking and no costumes and I must say the audience was ON. They laughed explosively at all the right times and were captivated right to the end. The producer says he is 'thrilled' and so is everyone else connected to the play. The literary manager of a very prestigeous NYC theater stood in line to congratulate me and gave me her card. We've agreed to stay in touch. The director is also a producer and I sent him a couple of my other scripts today, so I can't really predict which way it is going, but there is a lot of interest in my work all of a sudden. I HOPE it turns into something. I ran into the librarian from a local elite boarding school (I wrangled student volunteers for the community service program) on my way in to rehearsal and she emailed me to tell me she ordered a copy of my novel,"Weep," and if her book club wants to read it will I come talk to them about it. All good things!
I made a short slideshow of the reading and party of "Broken Heart Land" from snapshots that Mr. Pup took with available light, so some are a bit blurry. I enjoyed doing this reading every step of the way from my first meeting with the producer to the last sip of Guinness at the party. I am in awe of all the talent involved and will never forget how gracious they all were in lending their special gifts to this project.

(12,253 posts)The week before I had to have a shot in my foot for a mostly-healed but aggravated small break and was warned that my immunity would be lower because of the shot. It's just a head cold, and I'll get over it soon. Some bugs just have to run their course--and then I'm dancing again!!

(12,253 posts)Tonight, we are having spaghetti with sauce Bolognese and some nice demi-loaf of ciabatta bread. I picked up a cold traveling into and out of NYC for the play reading and don't plan on doing anything complicated this week. Sorry things went kaplooey on you--hope you're glued back together again.
