Something tells me I might need an intervention

Admittedly they aren't Manono Blahnik, Louboutin or Jimmy Choo, because I'm pretty low maintenance. Never the less, perhaps I've got a shoe collecting problem. To my defense, I do wear them all. Just depends on which pair I find first.

They are all so comfortable. When the pandemic first started and I was ULTRA cautious, I wore them when I made a shopping run because they were easily sterilized.

They make for less dirt and stones finding their way in when I'm gardening.

I'm going to be replacing it, along with the carpeting in the kitchen - yes, this kitchen is CARPETED!?!?!?! - after I get the painting done.

About that carpeted kitchen - I once dropped a dozen eggs on it. There was no cushioning effect. It was a nightmare to clean up. I inherited this house from my aunt and uncle. She had epilepsy and they figured carpeting would be more cushioning if/when she fell while having a seizure. For some reason they didn't follow through and carpet the bathrooms, too. For that I am thankful.

There's just floor boards beneath the kitchen carpeting, but the rest of the house (except for the bathrooms and laundry room) are oak or maple wood floors. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of what to do with the furniture while we rip out the carpet, and then sand and finish the floors. This house will look amazing.

My first house had kitchen carpet. I dropped a bottle of cooking oil on it. Then later a bottle of liquid detergent was found tipped over and open. I know I did the first one. Not sure if anyone claimed the second....🧐

... laminate floor really lightened the place up. I've very carefully gotten the pop corn off almost all the ceilings but because of leak damage the living/room/dining room. Its been painted twice, and I think with another coat it'll pass for plaster texture.

These old houses with older owners!

And the carpeting in the living room reminds me of what you'd see in a funeral home. The house was full of lots of browns, beiges, 'gold tones' and the original stove, that was still here when I moved in, was avocado. Oh, and there is wallpaper and wood paneling EVERYWHERE. The wallpaper is disappearing. The paneling will be painted.

My aunt and uncle never redecorated, from the day they moved in, back in the late 60's. When I discussed updating things, with my aunt (she survived my uncle by about 10 years) she grew VERY upset with me. So, even now that she's gone I sometimes hesitate, a bit, for fear of offending her spirit. But, it's time to think about me and my much taste for much brighter hues - blues, greens and even a splash, or two, of yellow.

Ideally I'd love to fix the house up, sell it, and move into a much smaller, easier to maintain place. Preferably a Craftsman style cottage with enough land for a small veg garden.
