Then why is my montmoracy cherry tree blooming in mid October in North East Ohio? It lost all its leaves a couple of weeks ago and noticed yesterday a few new water sprouts putting out leaves and now there are about fifteen blooms on the darn thing. What a confused tree.

It hasn't been that warm here. That tree really is confused, but I don't understand why. This has been a pretty normal autumn.

Now last March was a disaster! Or maybe it was April when we got hit so hard with freezes again that was a disaster. But you are right, there is a climate problem we are seeing. But I think this tree is having issues.

I told my husband I think it is getting ready to die and is just doing one last bloom. Can't figure it out, sure never had anything like that happen in my 40 some years of gardening! Although I did talk to a lady today whose family farms for their own produce market and she said that the june strawberries rebloomed and they picked some ripe one not to long ago. Maybe the extra early spring heat up threw off their systems?

3. Was this on root suckers?

If you have suckers, prune them out to help the tree. Especially if they are blooming. Jeez, how weird!

4. No, that was extra weird

the suckers were producing leaves but the blooms were on the regular banches. It looked really strange. I am going to clip the suckers off. Where the blooms are the branches look like in the spring when getting ready to produce new wood and leaves. Beats me, I still think this tree will be firewood by next winter!
